ACE e-Manifest Becomes Manditory for Michigan and New York Ports Starting May 24, 2007

Posted by Jason Berberich on February 23, 2007 8:47 PM

U.S. Customs published a Federal Register Notice today, announcing that ACE e-Manifest will be required for all carriers crossing through ports in Michigan and New York starting May 24, 2007.

If this announcement affects you and you haven’t started looking into e-Manifest options yet, you’ve still got some time. First, you’ve got plenty of time to apply for an ACE Portal account (they’ve been processing applications faster lately). Second, take a look at some of the 3rd party submission services. We’ve got a web app that’s really quick and easy to use if you’re crossing the border regularly. If you only ship a couple of times a month, or if computers just aren’t your thing, our fax option might be a good fit for you.

Whatever you end up going with in the end, please take the next three months to evaluate your options for filing e-Manifests if you haven’t started looking already. You’ll be happy you did.
